Lübeck (214.000 inhabitants) is a Hanseatic city of northern Germany. It is the second largest city of the Schleswig-Holstein, after Kiel, the Land capital.

This harbor on the Baltic sea is called the "Queen of the Hanse" : it was the capital of the Hanseatic League.


Holstentor Gate (1900) (1)


The city is listed on the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

It was the home port of the Pamir from 1951 to 1957.

A Court was held there in January 1958 to evaluate the responsibilities of the shipwreck, without any clear conclusion.
